What to do if you are racially discriminated, victimized or harassed

Take Action...

  • First of all tell the police, whether you think it will help or not.
  • Try to keep a record of the things that have happend or are happening e.g. date, time, place, what happend, any witnesses etc.
  • If it is happening in school or the work place, use the complaints procedure.
  • Look for support. Talk things through with someone. If you are a pupil, speak to someone you have confidence in and feel you can trust them or as a student you can contact your student union.
  • Seek outside support to take up the matter. Sheffield Racial Equality Council could help. Contact us to discuss things further.
  • If you have already used the institution's complaints to complain and the matter has not been resolved, you can also contact one of the organisations on our contact information & useful links page!
